Try getting a job, or voluteer someplace. You will be meeting new people, and developing friends.

Well, I moved to Tampa and I actually met some really nice people through a community on livejournal. Also look for things you might be interested in. Just last week I met a really cool person at a yoga class. Work too! A lot of my friends I actually ended up meeting though work.
