Any tips on moving in with new housemates?

I'm moving out of my parents' house soon, so I've never lived with a bunch of strangers, and I won't know anyone in the area. How can I make this a better experience? I'm shy at first but I'll warm up pretty fast. Thanks for any suggestions! :]

only do it with these 3 caveats;
1. you all agree on a mediator'; a neutral person who can settle any bickering
2. no one invites any friends over without getting verbal permission in advance and
the friend under no circumstance may stay over
3. each person pays their own rent separately……and shows a receipt to the
other 2.
[and no one eats another's food or touches another's goods or even asks too!]
